David is an Assistant Professor of Management at James Madison University. Trained as an organizational psychologist, he studies creative thinking, creative people, and creative jobs. His research addresses topics such as "How to lead creative teams," "How to get others to think outside the box," and "How to find ideas you've never thought of before." David also helps large and small organizations tackle these issues. At JMU David teaches classes in technology and innovation management and evidence-based management.

Outside of academia, David is an amateur woodworker and an eager fan of science and theater. In past years, he was a dancer/choreographer (including ballet and breakdancing), gymnast, and actor (but never, ever a decent singer). He received a MS and Phd in Industrial/Organizational Psychology from the University of Oklahoma and a BA in Psychology from BYU-Idaho. David resides in Harrisonburg, VA with his wife and five children.
